The Friends of the Wharton Public Library is an association of persons interested in the library. They help promote the use and enjoyment of the library, develop supplemental funding for the library, and actively support the policies and procedures of the Wharton Public Library in the community. Meetings are held in the community room of the Library.

• Provide funds to purchase materials and equipment as recommended by the Library Director and Trustees
• Plan and implement fund-raising activities including book sales
• Sponsor library programs provided for children, youth, and adults
• Acknowledge and support the library's plans, progress, decisions, and future needs
